For nearly three decades, Godsmack remains to be one of the most influential alternative metal bands in the music industry. With hit songs like "Cryin' Like a Bitch," "I Stand Alone," and "Whatever," among many others, the band from Massachusetts was able to mark their name in the rock music scene of the 90s and the 2000s. However, they are one of those bands who continually reinvent their sound and push their limits for their fans. As a result, they have remained relevant until today.

The band was formed in 1995, with Sully Erna, Robbie Merill, Tony Rombola, and Shannon Larkin establishing the original lineup. In 1998, after releasing a demo, they signed with Universal Records. Their self-titled album "Godsmack" climbed 22 spots on the Billboard 200 thanks to the band's rising record sales. They released another successful album in 2000, riding the wave of mystic imagery and percussive tribal rhythms made popular by bands like Metallica and Alice in Chains. In just one week, "Awake" climbed to the top five of the Billboard 200, earning them two platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America.

These successes catapulted the band into stardom and even allowed them to record the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie "The Scorpion King," released in 2002. The song became another central turning point in their career, becoming the band's first number-one single on Rock Radio and the most Active Rock song for 14 consecutive weeks.

This year, the band surprised fans when they unveiled their eighth studio album entitled "Lighting Up The Sky." Released earlier this February, the album was a follow-up to the band's 2018 album. Fans could not contain their excitement that after five years of not putting in new material, the band released this 11-track record. The album is already a success, charting in different territories and peaking at number one in the US Top Hard Rock Billboard Albums. Adding to the excitement is the band's announcement of a 25-city co-headlining tour with the band Staind.

The Aaron Lewis-led band is also a household name in the alternative rock metal scene. Gaining mainstream success at the end of the 1990s, Staind is known for massive songs like "It's Been Awhile," "Fade," "Right Here," "So Far Away," and many others. The band sold over 10,515,000 albums in their career, cementing their status as one of the top-selling rock bands ever.

The tour will kick off at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on July 18. It will stop at some of the top fan-favorite venues in the country before capping things off at the Germania Insurance Amphitheatre in Austin, Texas, on August 31. The tour will stop at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on July 28, 2023. Catch both bands as they set the famous Camden, New Jersey, venue on fire.
